Manny J Rodriguez is Regional Director of External Affairs for the Miami-Dade  region of  Florida Power & Light Company, the principal subsidiary of FPL Group, Inc. (NYSE: FPL), one of the country’s largest electricity-related services companies with annual revenues of more than $11 billion.  Its principal subsidiary, Florida Power & Light Company, is one of the largest investor-owned utilities in the U.S., serving approximately nine million people in Florida.  The other FPL Group subsidiaries include FPL Energy, one of the nation’s fastest growing wholesale energy producers from clean and renewable fuels with expanding operations in 26 states, and the world’s largest generator of solar and wind energy; and FPL Fibernet, which provides wholesale fiber optic systems and services in Florida and the Southeast U.S.

Mr. Rodriguez joined FPL in 1968 after receiving a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of Miami. He also earned an MBA from Florida International University.  He is a graduate of the Columbia University Graduate School of Business Executive Program, and the Brookins Institution. Mr. Rodriguez has held positions in FPL Engineering, Customer Services and External Affairs.

Mr. Rodriguez was awarded “The 1982 Engineer of the Year Award” by the Association of Cuban Engineers, and “2001 Man of the Year” by the Theodore R. Gibson Memorial Fund. He serves in the Executive Committee of the Miami Dade County FAIR and the Hialeah Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Board of The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, The Greater Miami YMCA, the Zoological Society, the Latin Builders Association, the Cuban American National Council , the Coconut Grove Playhouse, and the Gibson Memorial Fund.

Mr. Rodriguez is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida. He is a graduate of the Quality Institute in Winter Park, Florida, and has served as a Florida Governor’s Quality Sterling Award Examiner. He has conducted Quality Assessments for Qualtec, an FPL subsidiary, and for Iberdrola, an electric company in Spain. Mr. Rodriguez is a veteran of the U.S. Army. 

Manny and his wife, Irene, live in Miami Dade County.
