Harold Patricoff | Directors

Harold Edward Patricoff is a partner in the firm's litigation department. He is currently Chairman of the firm's International Dispute Resolution Practice Group. He was Chairman of the firm's Business Litigation Practice Group for five years and is one of the senior commercial litigators at Shutts & Bowen.

Mr. Patricoff concentrates his practice in several areas. The areas include defense of insurance claims and prosecution of insurance related claims, with an emphasis on life, health care, and disability issues, handling of administrative actions and regulatory matters related to agent or registered representative misconduct, National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) actions, general insurance regulatory matters, representation of investors from abroad in international disputes; handling and/or supervision of claims abroad for domestic and international firms, NASD, American Arbitration Association (AAA) and International Court of Arbitration (ITC) arbitrations; lawsuits involving the development of real estate; partnership and corporate shareholder disputes; money laundering claims, defense and prosecution of construction related claims on behalf of owners, developers, financial institutions, and general contractors; prosecution and defense of commercial claims on behalf of financial institution including suits on notes, guarantees, commercial, and residential foreclosures, actions for replevin and to foreclose security interests on personal property, along with defense of lender liability claims; and products liability claims. In addition to these general areas of practice, Mr. Patricoff has also developed a practice related to the electrical power generation industry. In the course of his practice, Mr. Patricoff has tried cases in both Federal and State courts in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.

Mr. Patricoff graduated with honors from Stetson University in 1982 with degrees in the pre-med and pre-law programs. Mr. Patricoff graduated from Stetson University College of Law with honors in 1985.

Mr. Patricoff is the Chairman of the Board for the American Heart Association's Metro Miami Board of Directors and has been a member of the Board's Executive Committee for several years. Mr. Patricoff is now serving a second term on the Board of Directors for the Jay Malina International Trade Consortium for Miami-Dade County. Mr. Patricoff is also a member of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and the Latin Builders Association, Inc. Mr. Patricoff travels frequently to Latin America and is proficient in Spanish.
